Owners David Mitchell and Mark Oldham had worked together on a restaurant concept for the now popular TerraMae Appalachian Bistro in Chattanooga, TN. Today, David and Mark have partnered to deliver a uniquely artistic approach transforming the common elements into wood tables and shelving from The Industrial Farmhouse Furniture.
The Industrial Farmhouse was sparked by our desire to create unique wood tables for Mark’s upscale restaurant in Spring 2013. We were looking for a specific style of table to fit the rustic and refined ambiance at the trendy TerraMae Appalachian Bistro. In addition to our style search, we also required custom table dimensions to perfectly fit into the space. When David could not find the tables he was searching for, he started drawing plans of his own. He then turned his ideas into works-of-art: The Industrial Farmhouse “Community Table” featured in the restaurant for larger dinner parties, as well as two industrial wood pub tables featured in the bar area.
The industrial hardwood tables received many compliments at the restaurant, and David took it a step further by posting the custom tables on Etsy. The furniture orders started coming in for restaurants, bars, design firms and corporate offices in several states. After realizing the popularity of our table designs on Etsy, and the desire to take the company to the next level – Mark and David created a partnership for The Industrial Farmhouse Furniture. We assembled a team of skilled professional craftsmen, renovated the warehouse, put a marketing plan into place and are now selling furniture nationwide.
On June 1, 2014 The Industrial Farmhouse began supplying high-end, indigenous hardwoods such as Walnut, Oak, Cherry, Maple, and Hickory from our Hardwood Division. These added added resources allow us to acquire the highest quality lumber products available at reasonable price points. Our patented steel brackets and the meticulous care we take when welding, sanding and finishing your product make it exceptional.
“The talent behind us now is really what sets us apart,” David said. “Collaboratively, we find efficient ways to create from ideas off the top of our heads rather than looking at a photo in a magazine and attempting to replicate something that someone else conceived. To everyone’s credit, I haven’t heard, ‘No, we can’t’ very often.”
Rising to each challenge, pride is a component of every piece of industrial hardwood furniture we create.
